Tselepos Estate was founded in 1989 by oenologist Giannis Tselepos. Having carefully observed and studied the Arcadian vineyard for a decade, Giannis Tselepos established his winery at the eastern foothills of Mount Parnon. The Tselepos Estate vineyards stretch along 45 hectares at the Mantinea plateau at an altitude of 750 metres, where moschofilero (PDO Mantineia) is cultivated along with international vine varieties. The activity of Tselepos Estate has been expanded to two more wineries. First came the Driopi Estate at Koutsi, Nemea, established in 2003; it stretches over a privately owned vineyard of 10 hectares exclusively producing agiorgitiko. It was followed by the joint venture with the Chryssos family, the Canava Chryssos-Tselepos in Santorini, featuring privately-owned vineyards of 12 hectares.
Why it’s worth visiting | Because the Tselepos Estate is perched in the vineyards of Mantineia, it features state-of-the-art equipment and excellent wine-making facilities for the production of superior quality wine, including sparkling wines produced in the traditional Champagne method. Its architectural design has been inspired by the 19th-century industrial buildings in Peloponnese, such as the traditional raisin storehouses. At the Tselepos Estate we will take you for an incredible walk through the vineyards where you will visit the unique restored watermill dating back to the Greek pre-revolutionary period, and the beautiful chapel of Saint Trifon – patron saint of vine-growers and wine makers – where you will enjoy outstanding views over the Mantineia plateau. |
